Every grade level has the opportunity to perform for a PTA meeting sometime during the school year. So far we have seen wonderful performances from Multiage/The Unity Tree; 3rd grade/Cantamos Americanos; 1st grade/No Turkey for Perky; and Kindergarten/Bob Humbug, the Christmas Grump.
The remaining grade levels will perform during the second semester...4th grade/February and 2nd grade/April. Why every grade/every year? I feel that it very important for children to learn from an early age that being in front of a crowd is NOTHING to be afraid of. It is not just about "being in a Musical"...it is about building self-confidence!
A letter of participation is sent home to parents and/or guardians at least 6 weeks before a scheduled performance. It is very IMPORTANT that these letters be returned as soon as possible so that speaking parts and/or singing solos can be assigned. There is a "mail drop" outside the music room door for your child's convenience in returning his/her letter. I encourage each student to take on this important RESPONSIBILITY rather than asking the classroom teacher to collect the letters. They have enough paperwork to deal with without adding mine to the pile! Thank you for YOUR help and encouragement to the students as well.
